-Who We Are- |
|
-JERRY- I am Jerry, married and a father of 2. I drive for FedEx for a living, working in LTL (less than truck-load). I have been in the trucking industry off and on for about 14 years now, and I love what I do. I became interested in R/C years ago when my dad and I built a couple of cars. My R/C flame went out for years, while I was growing up and starting a family of my own. Then a couple of years ago that flame was lit again. I started making pallets and crates for model trucks, before I ever owned my own. Now, thousands of pallets and crates later my fleet has grown to 4 trucks, 4 trailers, and 2 dollies– although most of them are in varying stages of build. -KEITH- Keith is married, with no children currently. Keith is currently dabbling in several things, while working at a Hobby Town in North Central Texas. He has been in trucking himself for many years, and comes from generations of truck drivers. Keith is an invisionist. After owning Tamiya trucks and trailers for years, he realized he could create the parts he needed for his projects, rather than buy them. So he started casting his own parts from plastic. He currently has designs in the works for replacement parts for trucks and trailers that meet or exceed OEM quality. He became part of the MMT team shortly after the idea was born, and plays a vital role in the production of his parts– and his visionary ideas. Keith can always be found working on something completely custom. -BRIAN- Brian came to MMT in December 2008, after we had a vacancy in our founding team. Since MMT needed some additional financial support, Brian stepped up and offered to fill the void. Brian currently living in NW Iowa with his wife and kids, where he is employed by the local university. Brian has extensive knowledge of both Tamiya and Wedico trucks. I am not sure what Brians fleet consists of at the moment, but I do know that he also dabbles in other areas of Radio Control as well. Brian is also currently working on some custom parts and accessories for Tamiya and Wedico -MODERATORS and MEMBERS- Because Midwest Model Trucking’s crown jewel is our message board, all of those people that make our board a success cannot go un-noticed. That said we would like to thank all of our members– both current, and future– for the dedication and patronage you have shown MMT. Because a message board is only as good as its “management” we have carefully chosen several members to help watch over and moderate the board. These members take time out to answer questions, and moderate the activity on the board… without them we could not keep up. We have several “known” moderators on our board, as well as a couple of “hidden” moderators. But rest assured, our board is a fun and friendly environment for our members, and with our huge selection of forums– there is always something to talk about, even if your not in a “trucks” mood. We have become well known in the hobby as having one of the most “fun” environments available– and this is a reputation we intend to keep and build on. Our “known” moderator team consists of the following: Ken: Semibigrigger– East Coast, USA Glenn: Ironman– Canada Paul: Willsbrook– Austrailia Alicia: Alicia– Midwest, USA Midwest Model Trucking That is us– a group of people who share the same desire to get model trucking on the map– and so far things are going better than we planned. Because of our steady growth since our inception, we have added many other services to our staple. Not only do we operate one of the only “semi trucks only” message board– we also offer our very own auctions, and chat room… both owned and operated by MMT. We decided that because we are 100% dedicated to the hobby and our members, we did not want to put any reliance on 3rd party providers, that is why we decided to invest in our own software to compliment our message board and website. All of our services are provided through state-of-the-art software that is constantly upgraded by teams of dedicated writers so we are always going to be on the “cutting edge” and stay ahead of the competition. WE also offer a build of the month contest where we allow members to submit their favorite truck for a contest, where the truck owner/winner will get their photo posted at the top of our message board. With more plans in the future, and the steady growth we have experienced all of our members will guarantee that MMT will always be here for their Model Trucking needs!! HISTORY of Model Trucking Even though we are a small group, there are thousands worldwide who are responsible for making this hobby what it is today. Model trucking has been huge in Germany and the UK for years, and thanks to Ric Murphy of Garden Trucking– the hobby became state side and has grown ever since. Ric imports items from Germany and the UK that we otherwise may not have here in the states. We all owe Ric a big thank-you for his role in model trucking. Ric sponsors the Indy shows every year in Indianapolis, Indiana as well as many other meet-ups and shows. For more information about the hobby, or products please feel free to visit our contact page and get a hold of one of us– we are always happy to answer questions. Thanks, Jerry: Founder– Midwest Model Trucking Keith: Co-Founder– Midwest Model Trucking
