some n-scale stuff

Postby Yoater on Wed Feb 16, 2011 12:20 am

these tanks are actualy 1:144 instead of n-scales 1:160. the track farthest from the camera has the more prototypical couplers where as the rest just have the funky rapido stuff. atm I don't have any locos just a bunch of track and rollingstock. (about 20 more cars didnt have trucks)

Planned Layout. I got the plan from the march 2003 issue of model railroader. It's going to be an interesting build as I've never built a model railroad before. I am shooting for a early 60's setup. with a used great northern alco rs-3 or rsd-4 for the c&o line but instead it'll be a company thats made up from my corp in eve-online(zorg inc). and for the virginian I'm not sure yet.
I plan to run local freight to the town on the zorg line

I decided to start with a small 14" x 53" test track.
I laid out the rail earlier on a left over piece from my old desk. your looking at it from the back.

I'm not sure where I'm going to put the two buildings I've got.

your gonna have a nice little layout
looking at the plan
if you look at the dead end in the hidden yard
imagine that track not stopping but extending around connecting to the secondary track
you would end up with two complete circles
while a train is running on the main, you can run a switching freight or secondary train like interchange etc
lol

thanks. atm the layout is kind of on hold. I got a steam loco awhile back and forgot to post it. its an old arnold-rapido 4-6-2 pacific that needs some work. I need to clean the motor and all the drive gears, get some new traction tires for the rear drivers and replace the tender with one that has all wheel pickup & it needs a repaint. i also made a set of smoke deflectors out of .010 styrene for it. I'm planing to paint it a combo of black / yellow / grey and a vanderbilt tender(round tank style) with some mild weathering.
